Cruise - Nov 3 Istanbul

Today we went on a tour of Istanbul. We saw where the Hippodrome was. All that was left were two tall towers. Then we took a tour of the Blue Mosque. The mosque isn’t blue but when you go into it there is a lot of blue and that is why it is called that. The official name is Sultanahmet Mosque. Next we visited the Hagai Sophia Museum. This was one of the first Christian churches built after Constantine legalized Christianity. The present structure is the third cathedral constructed on the sight and was the world’s largest cathedral at the time. When the Ottomans conquered Istanbul it was converted to a Mosque. It was later converted to a museum. After that we toured the Topkapi Palace Museum which used to be where the Sultans lived and ruled from. Part way through this tour we had lunch at a cafĂ© in the museum. After this museum we walked back to the bus and got dropped off for shopping at the Grand Bazaar before returning to the ship.
