This morning we took the public transit from our hotel on the mainland portion of Venice to the island city of Venice. No vehicles are actually allowed on the islands. The only means of getting around are by foot or boat on the numerous canals. There is a big parking lot which is as far as vehicles are allowed. Once we got there our guide took us on a guided walk to Saint Mark's market square and to our Gondola ride. We boarded our gondolas and our guide told us to "Get lost in Venice, see you tomorrow". We had an enjoyable Gondola ride and then explored Venice on foot. We went up the bell tower in the market square and got a beautiful panoramic view of the city of Venice. We then made our way through the city on various streets, had lunch at one restaurant and dinner at another one and eventually made our way back to the bus stop for the ride back to our hotel.
